Registrations Details

  • Registrations are for patrols of Scouts (one patrol per raft) and all patrols from one Group should be registered together by their Scout Leader. Registrations for individual participants will not be accepted.

  • Groups with less than 4 Scouts who wish to participate should try and join with nearby Group. If this is not possible, please let us know and we will try and work something out with you and another Group to create an activity patrol.

  • Some changes in 2021 to assist us with planning in the COVID world…

    • There will be a maximum of 300 Scout participants on a first in basis.

    • Each Unit will require a minimum of two adults (2-deep), and a maximum of one adult per raft (ie 1 or 2 rafts require 2 adults, 3 rafts = max 3 adults, 4 rafts = max 4 adults). This is to assist with general supervision, and to ensure compliance with any COVID restrictions that may be in place, but also limiting the necessary number of people.

    • Late registrations will not be accepted in 2021.

    • All registrations are subject to confirmation. Groups will be invoiced for all the people on their registration form and payment will be by Bank Transfer to Bayswater Sea Scout Group.

    • Payments not received by the closing date will result in a cancellation of the registration, and in the event of a waiting list, places will be offered to other Groups.

    • Refunds due to cancellation of Swantiki due to COVID will be made less any expenses incurred by the Group that cannot be recovered, apportioned evenly across all participants.

Safety Information

  • PFDs must be worn at all times on the water. PFDs must be a PFD 50 (old “Type 2”) minimum standard (ie PFD 100 or old Type 1 are OK too).

  • Enclosed shoes (old sneakers, aquasox, wetsuit booties etc) must be worn on/in the water and on the land. This is part of our site specific risk assessment.

  • “Scout made” paddles should have no metal projections - ie screws, long bolt threads past the nut should be cut off and filed smooth.

  • Leaders should ensure that their Scouts can swim 50 metres dressed in shirt, shorts, shoes and a properly fitting personal flotation device and thereafter remain afloat and swim a minimum of 50 meters and is able to stay afloat for 3 minutes without the aid of a personal flotation device. Refer to current Y3 form for this requirement.

  • Rafts will need a 300mm x 300mm waterproof “sign” on which to write their raft number to assist with scoring and identification by the safety and support crews. This is to be attached prominently to the raft.
